ICodeMS

About

iCODE_MS is an extracurricular education initiative that introduces young people to computer science and sustainable digital skills through hands‑on workshops, hackathons and projects. The program connects coding and environmental themes, giving students the opportunity to explore programming, algorithms, data science and digital solutions in real‑world contexts such as climate and city sustainability. By engaging participants in creative, application‑oriented learning, iCODE_MS aims to build digital competence and inspire future interest in technology and innovation.

Project partners

The project is carried out by openSenseLab gGmbH in collaboration with MExLab ExperiMINTe at the University of Münster and reedu GmbH & Co. KG, with additional support from associated partners including münsterLAND.digitale e. V., the City of Münster’s Office for Green Spaces, Environment and Sustainability, and zdi centers in Coesfeld and Steinfurt.

Our Goals

iCODE_MS offers a variety of learning experiences for young people, including workshops, hackathons and thematic days that introduce coding and informatics fundamentals without requiring prior experience. Participants work with real data, explore smart city and environmental technology topics, and develop digital solutions. Special formats also support inclusion and targeted engagement, such as monoeducational workshops for girls. All events are free to attend and designed to make computer science accessible, relevant and engaging for youth in Middleschool and beyond.
