AI & Data Academy (ADA)
About
AI & Data Academy (ADA) introduces young people aged 12–16 to computer science and artificial intelligence (AI) in an engaging, hands-on way. The project combines interactive learning modules, real-world applications, and ethical discussions to develop technical skills, critical thinking, and awareness of AI’s societal impact. Through workshops, company visits, and a large AI festival, ADA inspires curiosity, builds digital competence, and opens pathways to future careers in technology.
Project partners
The project is carried out in collaboration with openSenseLab gGmbH, Reedu GmbH & Co. KG, the University of Münster’s Institute of Geoinformatics including the Spatial Intelligence Lab & GI@School, the Computer Vision and Machine Learning Systems Group at the University of Münster, and Eine Welt Netz NRW e.V. These partners bring expertise in digital education, AI research, environmental data, and civic engagement, forming a multidisciplinary network that supports ADA’s goals.

Our Goals
ADA is built on four main pillars to provide practical and inspiring AI education:
- Interactive Learning Modules: Students explore programming, AI, sensor technology, environmental data analysis, and large language models. They design AI applications themselves and develop critical and creative skills.
- Evaluation in Extracurricular Settings: Modules are tested in workshops, labs, and “Jugend hackt” events to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- AI-Days at Companies and Organizations: 12 workshops allow students to experience real-world AI applications and meet role models from industry and civil society.
- AI Festival: A large-scale event bringing hundreds of young people together to explore AI through workshops, talks, and interactive activities, promoting discussion on ethical, social, and technical aspects of AI.
The project combines technical learning with societal relevance, encouraging students to think critically, engage with real-world challenges, and apply their skills creatively.
